A new drug significantly reduces the risk of tumour progression in patients with breast cancer oestrogen receptor positive (ER+) and HER2 negative** (ER+/HER2-), one of the most common types of breast cancer. According to results from the phase II trial SERENA-2, presented at the 45th edition of the San Antonio breast cancer symposium **2022, held from 6–10 December, the drug camizestrant, developed by the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, significantly improves progression-free survival (PFS) – the time from the start of treatment until the tumour begins to grow again – in these patients, compared with the previous treatment.
